The republic of India will celebrate it's 73rd year as an independent nation in 2019, and it's high time now that we should ask ourselves about the necessity of reservation in our society.

We can say that there was a need for reservation at the time of Independence, but it has taken a different form now. Reservation has taken a form of discrimination and inequality in our country. It was introduced as an affirmative action to promote social justice but it has become a form of discrimination now.

Even the likes of Dr B.R ambedkar (who was the pioneerof reservation in India) would have been disappointed by today's situation.

South Africa suffered from on of the most inhumane discrimination, discrimination on the basis of race, but still after the apartheid was banned in Africa the blacks were not given any special affirmative action like the indian lower caste got. By this I am trying to say that justice does not always requires affirmative actions and this must be stopped in our country.

So, reservation on the basis on birth in a particular sect should be banned and to promote equality and justice reservation should be done on the basis on income level of people. Only those people who are below poverty line should be given the advantage of reservation and other affirmative action.
