Who is a woman? I asked my mother. “Women are the real architects of the society,” she answered. The word Wo-men itself indicates that wo-men are inclusive in nature. Women aren’t born strong, they become strong by the challenges they face in life. With each challenge, they become strong mentally and emotionally. When I was a little girl, I was told that I was skinny and I don’t eat enough. My parents wanted me to look like a cute, chubby kid. Now, when I am 19, I am expected to be slim. That cute little girl who once used to spend her entire day eating chocolates and playing with the butterflies carelessly will now spend half of her life looking into Miss Young magazine and thinking why isn’t she as perfect as the model. And she would starve herself to get the acceptance of others. I am born in a generation where an ideal woman is the one who is sophisticated, outspoken, career minded and powerful. Our generation is all about equal rights, feminism. Women today compete with men in all the fields. Those women who break the stereotypes and carve their ways to success in unconventional fields

Capture everyone’s heart and give courage to those who are dreaming of similar careers. While boys are given toy cars and video games as gifts, girls are given dolls as a gift. But Mary Kom, a 31-year-old lady from Manipur, made the whole nation proud and opened gates for many girls who wanted to opt for a career like boxing.

In recent years, India has been taking steps to break the gender barriers by enabling women to serve on military grounds. In February 2016, President Pranab Mukherjee announced that women will finally be allowed to take up combat roles in all sections of the Indian armed forces, signalling a radical move towards gender parity in one of the world’s most male-dominated professions. A woman is like a tea bag, you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.
