Not everyone is genetically blessed with perfect skin and it is good to work on yourself and improve your skin but using everything and anything you see on the internet in your skincare is purely dumb because it will ruin your face.
India is a country obsessed with fair skin, and that’s why there’s skin lightening cosmetics in the market and TV campaigns that try so hard to influence consumers without telling them about the dangers it brings along.
It is a common ingredient in fairness creams available in India(including both popular and unpopular brands). The companies will not list it on the ingredients column, which itself proves that mercury shouldn’t be there in the cream itself. Mercury is toxic even in light doses. Repeated exposure to mercury on your face can lead to tremors, kidney failure and birth defects. Such skin bleaching creams are banned in the Phillipines but still are smuggled in the country.
In my opinion, indian cosumers too just don’t research well enough to know whether putting a particular thing ( scrub, face wash, cream) would and usually causes more harm than good. You can see videos of people on youtube putting lemon and baking soda on their face and calling it “skin –care” hacks, but these are just ruining- your -face-hacks.
1.Lemon- it is so high in Ph that it will fry literally fry your skin, don’t fall for those fads, don’t use lemon on your face
2.Baking soda-again, it is on the extreme end of the Ph scale, do not put baking soda on your face, no matter how many Americans use it on their skin.
3.Walnut scrub- exfoliating your skin is good but the scrubs containing walnut beads which are noticeable in sizecause micro tears in your skin. Don’t use such harsh exfoliators.
4.Using toothpaste on your face- read the label on toothpaste packs, it says- do not swallow the tooth paste, now if the company doesn’t want you to eat it, then its common sense that you should not use it on your face. It has ingredients that can damage your skin.
I am not a dermatologist but I make sure to research before using any new products which I feel is the bare minimum everyone should do and do yourself a favour by not using dumb and harmful stuff like lemons on your face.
