Fellow GoT fanatics, this one is for you guys.

Not Today-

says every great procrastinator to their work. If you thought procrastination is easy, let me tell you its an art. A master procrastinator will make full fledged plans with every minuscule detail laid out in their head before they postpone their work to tomorrow. And this article was supposed to be written two days back but…. yes I procrastinated.

Put simply, procrastination is putting off tasks till the last minute. About 75% college students procrastinate. Even if we get 10 days to prepare for an exam, the books are opened a night before and miraculously, six months worth of syllabus is covered in a single night. Indeed, procrastinators have the ability to complete complicated tasks in very little time which also means that they know how to get things done by hook or by crook. Geniuses like Victor Hugo, Leonardo da Vinci, Herman Melville were procrastinators.

Interestingly, Barbara Oakley tells that
“We procrastinate about things that make us feel uncomfortable. Medical imaging studies have shown that mathphobes, for example, appear to avoid math because even just thinking about it seems to hurt. The pain centers of their brains light up when they contemplate working on math.”

This means people procrastinate about things they dislike because ‘if you don’t face it, it can’t scare you’. If this makes you think procrastinators do not care about their grades or career, then you might be wrong because procrastinators will COMPLETE their work tomorrow, but they won’t give up on it. They care about what would happened if they fail, they care about being judged by other people too.

If you wish to give up your habit of procrastination, take little steps first by trying to complete the smaller tasks. If you think a task will take less than two minutes, then do it right now- always follow this strategy. Years of procrastination can’t be overcome in a day but a little goes a long way. But what you should know is that procrastination is neither bad or good, its more of a shade of grey depending on your personality traits. If you are good at memorizing, then memorize later but if it takes hours for you to do, start now. If you can complete assignments in minutes, cool but if you’re slow, then just get over with it.

“ Procrastination is a sign of aperfectionist”.
