Move over the bittersweet ending of Game of Thrones, afterall
Art is not a democracy, people don’t get to choose how it ends.

HBO has always come out with excellent content, and their miniseries, Chernobyl confirms it. Unlike other documentary dramas that stretch the story and take your attention away from the real theme, (just like ‘Titanic’, with an unnecessary romantic angle and the thing about rare diamond buried in shipwreck ) Chernobyl is a masterpiece. Good editing, brilliant frames, gorgeous soundtrack, the intricacies, fantastic writing, cinematography all make this series a must watch. I believe turning a historic event into a miniseries that isn’t boring is an art and HBO has done this beautifully. Safe to say, IMDB isn’t wrong in making Chernobyl the highest rated TV series ever.
Fiction and Fantasy are great genres but reality ,as in documentaries/ series based on real events, have a more captivating angle to it, considering these events actually happened and there might never be Dragons flying in your city. If you love thrillers and horror movies , you will definitely like this miniseries.
As you may have already guessed, the story revolves around the Chernobyl nuclear disaster which took place on 26 April 1986, in the city of Prypyat, in Northern Ukrainian USSR. This show illustrates how arrogance and ignorance of politicians and people in power disregard science and turn a blind eye to it because they don’t want the world to know about their failures resulting in a disaster that is extremely difficult to control and the future generations suffer from it;when a nuclear reactor core explodes, there’s not only a fire which is difficult to put out , the Radiation levels skyrocket.
Radiation is bad for human, plant and animal life while it also damages soil and groundwater. I will not go into further details about radiation science, because I can say it from personal experience that reading about a disaster is not very interesting but watching a movie or a miniseries about is a far better option. The makeup department behind Chernobyl deserves every award because the scenes actually will scare you a bit. The entire cast has given brilliant performances. With just two more episodes left for this series to end, fans are eager to see whether the finale would live upto their expectations or not.
