Mobile phone is playing a vital role in every human's life. Rich or poor, young or old, male or female everyone is using 4G mobiles. But have you ever thought what 'G' stands for in 3G, 4G etc. Like everyone guessed, yes 'G' stand for Generation. You will come to know about this in later paragraphs.
The first portable cell phone is motorola which was invented by Martin Cooper. That mobile was actually analog phone with 1G technology. This will only support voice calls (more than enough at that time). Later on it is upgraded to 2G. Analog to digital communications. This 2G phone has many features such as SMS, camera accessibility, picture messages, MMS, radio etc. Now there comes the turning point in the history of mobile phones - 3G. Data, video calling, mobile internet are the key features in 3G. This introduced faster data transmission speeds. In these mobiles, internet can also be accessed. Maximum speed of data is around 2Mbps. As technology is getting modernised, 3G is upgraded to 4G.
4G is approximately 10 times faster than 3G. It is just like 3G. It supports web access like 3G and also includes HD mobile TV, video conferencing, 3D TV and many more. Data speed varies up to 100Mbps (maximum). Most of the current models are 3G and 4G supported mobile phones. 4G came into market with advanced features to provide high quality, high capacity and full security whereas the cost of data and voice services are low. However, Reliance jio increased the number of 4G users in India ( thanks to Ambani). Then what is LTE? This is common doubt raising in the minds of many people. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. It simply means 4GLTE users will be having data speed 10 times faster than the current 3G network. But when 4G first came into market there was no LTE which was almost similar to 3G with a bit fast data than 3G. 4GLTE is advanced version of 4G and then buffering got reduced and clarity got increased. Then after VoLTE has been introduced i.e., Voice over Long Term Evolution which enables voice calls without data. Now-a-days 4G with VoLTE is latest version of network.
Only man is not content to leave things as they are but must always be changing them, and when he has done so, is seldom satisfied the result.
5G is currently under development which promises in providing relatively faster data than 4G. 5G is set to be as 100 times faster than current 4G. Transfer of any files via 5G network is very fast. Few studies tell that 5G will be able to handle newer technologies such as driver less cars(which may be useful in future), smart home, Virtual reality. Some other studies has reported that 5G opens a new door to threat. Let's wait for the upcoming generation...
