Yup. It is cheese. The one thing that goes along with everything starting from sandwiches to pizzas. There are thousands of types and a thousand recipes. Cheese is almost everyone's favourite dairy product. And June 4th is celebrated as the national cheese day annually. Though some types have a high content of sodium and fat they do have some health benefits along with their wonderful taste.

1. Bones and teeth

Cheese contains a composition of vitamins A, D, K, calcium, potassium, zinc, magnesium and proteins which makes it an excellent source for healthy bone development in children.

But still, there are some theories that state that excessive consumption of dairy products may increase the acid level in the

the body that results in the damage of bones rather than development. However, there are no scientific proofs for this theory.

The calcium in the cheese can help for stronger teeth too. It helps in the prevention of cavities.

2. Blood pressure and blood vessels

Researches and studies show that consumption of cheese reduces the blood pressure. But only low-fat and low-sodium cheese helps with the blood pressure. Some of the low- fat cheese are cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, parmesan, feta. Since low-fat cheese is highly processed they are not recommended for regular consumption.

Though cheeses are high in fat and cholesterol that may lead to cardiovascular diseases, researchers proved that cheese is a good source of glutathione, an antioxidant which is important for preventing neurodegeneration.

3. Healthy cells

Cheese is a rich source of protein and helps in the healthy growth of cells. One ounce of cheddar cheese can contain up to 7 grams of protein.

Like everything in the world, though cheese has its positives there are also negatives. So it is always better to limit ourselves. Happy cheese day!
