I believe the word “love” gets thrown around a lot without knowing the gravity of the word itself. People describe their liking for even an object as “love”. No wonder these days there are categories of love for everyone, “I love you like a friend“, or ”I love you like a bestfriend”. It’s because we’ve all misused a term so strong with such irrelevancy that now it needs clarification. We’re constantly talking how this generation does not understand the true meaning of love. Well, how would they understand the true meaning of love if the word isn’t understood ?

There were times people used the word love to express that they’d like to spend the rest of their lives together. Today, it’s as good as a greeting the way I see people saying it to each other. Love requires commitment, and that is the willingness to not let go no matter what happens. Love is not perfect, love requires patience, it requires compassion and understanding. It fills my heart with joy seeing couples like my grandparents happy after so many years of togetherness. They understand the meaning of love. They must’ve seen ups and downs in their relationship over the years but it has only made their bond stronger. Use the word love wisely. It’s got a lot of emotions attached to it.If you’re in love with someone make sure that you never hurt their feelings intentionally. A relationship can either be the best or worst thing to have happened to you depending on what you experience. We’ve all heard that we don’t control with whom or how we fall in love but one should always think things through before taking a decision. You might end up with someone who’s perfect for you or else no matter how hard you’ll try it won’t work. You’ve to embrace whatever you go through whether you’re going through happy phase or a sad phase.

Here are some quotes on love :

Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

Martin Luther King Jr.

We accept the love we think we deserve.

Stephen Chbosky,

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.

Pablo Neruda (source:goodreads.com)

An excellent explanation of LOVE, the word so loosely used by most of us.
