A popcorn bucket to munch on,a cozy cushion to lean back on, the perfect film to play, and lights dimmed to watch it (the last part was also so your mom doesn’t catch you late at night!) This is what a bollywood buff does to make a sunday funday.

The 90s kids watched crazy, classic, hilarious yet typical Bollywood stuff. The movies especially highlighted the adolscent love and their unique (read: cliche) styles of expressing it.The decade had been releasing blockbusters one after the other in a row that held the kids’ heart captive and they can’t get over it even now!

The 90s kids could be a testimony to the ever preposterous things they must have done to watch them, be it bunking school or lying at home!

The narratives that are now our guilty pleasures worked so well because they would fascinate us in our age of dreaming about high school love and finding The One (you just laughed at yourself too, didn’t you?

A few highlights of the decade are :

  • Koi Mil gaya

Everyone wanted a friend like jaadu and the magical transformation that Hrithik Roshan goes is commendable. From helping him win the basketball match to woo the girl of his dreams to later giving him superpowers to give birth to a son like Krish all seems supernatural now but not then you would all agree that We all wanted someone like Jaaadduuu and aso not to forget his scooter as our mode of transport years back.

  • Kabhi khushi kabhi gham:

They ask us why are we so sassy? We learnt it from Poo duh! In the history of Bollywood, puberty hit Ladoo the hardest. And the dream of every girl to get her dupatta stuck on a hot guy's watch was born here. And how can we forget the iconic title track?

  • Joh jeeta wohi Sikander :

This was the “STUDENT OF THE YEAR” for the 90s kids. The narrative depicted the cycle competition fun and parallely the love story.(Pehla nashaa, pehla khumaar plays in the background)

  • Kuch Kuch hota hai :

Does this even need an introduction or is koi mil gya already playing in your head? Karan Johar’s epic love triangle with lots of fun and frolic of college life that had been shown, with 4-5 songs and all that jazz of Bollywood! " Kuch kuch hota hai Anjali, tum nahi samjhogey ! " became a very famous punchline for boys all over the country.

  • Dil to pagal hai :

Another amazing love story, depicting not just love but also heartbreak. Of course the memorable scores of the movie such DIL to pagal hai, dil deewana hai played to its benefit. And shows heartbreak and competition betweeen the girls of the same troop to win the love of their choreoghrapher.

  • Border:

Symbolic of patroitism, and having a strong sense of nationality, every kid grew up watching this war saga passionately! How's the josh 21st century ? High Sir.

  • Dil wale dulhaniya le jaayengey :

I cannot even being counting the number of kids that were named Raj or Simran because of this epic love saga. The movie was filled with stellar performances by superstars like SRK, Kajol, and Amrish Puri among others and melted our hearts throughout. This movie has a totally different fanbase when he's proved because on my my friend watches ddlj on 14th february every year in the multiplex . It also gave us a strong message of doing what you want to do and have the courage to stand with someone who loves you.

Hopefully, this rejuvenated all the childhood memories, the fun and the terrible tales of (may be) every reader’s high school love and how heroic guys and girls had become watching these crazy movies!

Well, what are you waiting for? Go and re watch them now!
