The story of unconditional love, respect and understanding, k-drama “Something in the Rain” is a must watch series in the recent times.

k-drama is the new trend, followed by the mass audience. The simplicity, beautifully portrayed Asian culture and the lively music, makes it a perfect weekend binge.

Associated with the word Hallyu literally meaning Korean wave, k-dramas have gained worldwide followers. Beautiful love stories, minimal violence, with cultural appeal, have made it a worldwide phenomenon. Eye-catching apparel and the touch of light banter makes it an exceptional platform for stress relief.

The story revolves around the theme of love, family and society where the leading actors fall in love regardless of age(the girl in her 30s and the boy in his 20s) and status. It is an amalgamation of impeccable direction and performance.

Opening with the emotional breakdown of Yoon Jin-ah, a woman in her 30s, the story goes beyond the so-called romantic ideas of love. It creates social tension through which the characters walk to prove their love. Yoon Jin ha meets her best friend and her younger brother Joon-hee right after her breakup who brings out the child in her. Not only he guides her through the tough times but also nurtures her innocence. Even after crossing the threshold of 30s Jin ah feels vibrant, young and confident in his presence.

Just like a mature adult the boy fights for her love till the end.

Eye-soothingcast: Starring Son Ye-Jin and Jong Hea, something in the Rain is definitely a pretty thing to watch. Undoubtedly the series will hook the audience through their charm and beautiful faces.

Background score: k-drama is even more popular for its wonderful background scores and compositions.

Stand by me and Bruce Willis’ save the last dance, can be one of the many reasons of watching this series.

Cultural appeal: After watching a single episode one can easily point out the cultural etiquettes of South Korea. Greeting everyone with a slight nod, public lunch and idea of sharing are beautifully shown here.

Social message: on a different note this drama is close to my heart because if the portrayal of women.

The harassment women are suffering everyday in work places are explicitly portrayed here. Male domination on the junior females and the patriarchal connotations are broken by the female leading character when she decides to speak against the sexual harassment. This definitely offers a wider reason to watch this series.

Aww moment : the way Joon-hee embraces Yoon Jinah’s insecurities and builds her confidence is one of the rarest chemistries we can see on screen. Be it family or workplace conflict, this young boy stands by her all the time. There on screen chemistry connects the subtle bridge of understanding and love and it shows us why it is important to follow your instinct.

Food: Yes , something in the Rain will positively make you fall for Sushi, Raman and street food. Nearly every episode has a restaurant scene with chopsticks tickling making your mouth watery.

Rain: As the title suggests rain does create a huge impact on the viewers. The couple sharing a single umbrella just to walk closely to each other made my dopamine go silly. The atmosphere, music and the cute tension between the couple will remain with you for a long time.

Without any exaggeration something is the Rain is one of the best k-dramas I have watched in the recent times.
