“It was the best of times” This very first line of “A Tale of two Cities” is pretty much in the core of every 90s kids when they are asked to describe their childhood. Before the era of restless socialization, communication used to be a face to face activity. Moreover if we think about the obsession to refer 90s every once in a while, then there are quite a few reasons to look back to that golden era.

• Television : 90s is famous for its television shows and cartoons. The movies, soap operas made during 1990 to 99 were educational, entertaining and worth watching. With almost zero access to smartphones chitrahar and rangoli used to be our stress reliever. From shaktiman to Friends every show taught us to remain faithful to ourselves. Unlike binge watching 90s kids used to wait for next episode for a whole week, and surprisingly the wait was worthy.

• Besides entertainment childhood was quite different from today’s teenage. Instead of hanging out in coffee shop or playing Xbox, afternoons were spent, playing with friends as long as the weather was good. And if rain permits ghost stories with pakore was always an option. But nowadays kids are glued to their smartphone and day by day losing touch with human interaction.

• Summer vacation was all about covering new books with stickers; the only collection we used to possess proudly. Just like that we used to pass our vacation eagerly waiting for school to reopen. It’s quite odd how kids today, complain about school to be the hardest time. Whereas for better understanding smartphones, Internet are being used rapidly. Inspite of their numerous advantages certain experiences will be totally unknown to them.

• Considering fashion, 90s was a stylish age; Mismatch scarf to high waisted jeans everything is coming back to present day.

• Above all there was nothing more ear soothing than the voice of ice cream sellers honking on the streets selling kulfi. Nearly every type was available within 1rs.

• Among many other things, traditions of giving greetings card was a must do in birthdays. But with time and money this has been replaced. Infact it’s very rare now to see new year cards exchange. Hence it can be said, beautiful was the time when we insist our parents to buy the finest one for our best friend.

• It’s quite amusing to see how things have changed in couple of years. Technology has become the new trend, allowing us to interact with people from different continent while separating us from the boy/girl next door.
