When you say a "Yes" to others make sure you aren't saying "No" to yourself....

Peer Pressure is a direct influence on a person by its peer group, society or surroundings. It is the effect on an individual who gets encouraged to follow their peers by changing their way of behaviour and their values.

The name itself take you to a negetive opinion, as peer pressure is always assumed or referred to getting wrongly influenced by others and doing something that is bad.right? but peer pressure is not always negetive . but instead it carries both positive and negetive aspects. It is how we chose to react to peer pressure that defines who we are as an individual. Basically, the difference between negative and positive peer pressure is the result that we get after making a choice. It can be as simple as your classmate asking you to copy your homework and as difficult as your friends wanting you to try drugs for the first time.Negative peer pressure takes place when someone tells you to do things that you know or feel is wrong, hurtful, or dangerous.

Just thing that you are a very shy person and you have entered your junior college, we probably meet new people with new atmosphere, a completely new surroundings and challenges. you find a peer group and gets influenced or pressurized by them to join the sports club. Very soon you realised that being a part of sports club not only brings out new learnings to you but also helps you to develop focus on your other work. This is probably an example of a positive peer pressure.

On the contrary, negetive peer pressure does not need any instances, because people have a negetive approach when we speak of peer pressure. Once in a survey when random people were asked to talk about peer pressure the feedback so found was full of drugs, alcohol, smoking etc. Getting in a wrong path or a right direction depends on your self-actualisation. You should always have your own values and virtues that give a shape to your life. Running on what others think and how others want you to be kills the actual you. To avoid a negetive peer pressure its important to:

  • Ask question to yourself

when you are forced to do something, you should first ask yourself that you actually want to do it or not. and decide after that what you want to do.

  • Say "NO" and mean it

You should be stable and firm on you decision. The more certain you are in you refusal the less people will bug you.

  • Don't just do things because evryone is doing it.

  • Look for positive role models

Find people who drives you to positive side of life and not push you towards distruction.

I would rather live short and right than long and wrong.......
