We, Indians, have already demarcated our beliefs, rules and life by the old clichéd rituals whichprobablyshould have vanished by now but instead theyseems to be blending up more with various modern gibberish thinking.

Let us discussthe most common issue that we encounter on a daily basis- Harassment. Be it personal or professional, women are harassed everywhere and it has become so common that nobody raises an eye if it happens. Your boss might wants to get into your pants but you have to tolerate because your dreams are on stake. Your male colleague might want to rub your thigh while talking but again you have to tolerate because if he get offensive he can spread rumor of you being a slut. Man cannot take a “NO” as an answer so you have to be “Obedient” or “Tolerant” would be better to say.

Being a mother of a girl child is the toughest job in India. Apart from honor killing, rapes, harassments, eve teasing, and all the feminine problems, have you ever thought of the quality of education that a mother gives to her daughter? An Indian mother always teaches her daughter to be tolerant in front of all especially male members of the family. Surprisingly, she is also being taught to restrict herself fromrevolting against any injustice.Mind your walk, manage your scarf, don’t giggle, don’t be too loud, don’t look at them, are some common instructions women have listened to while growing up.In case of any mishap, she is simply expected to directly come home and cry for lifetime by locking herself in the room, because ultimately the blame would be upon her for being a woman and ‘men will be men’. Those who harassed you on road had no fault in it; it was obviously your mistake, because this is what our Cinema shows.

No doubt, Cinema persuades audience. People acquire what their favorite movie depicts or their favorite artists own, so with the attitude. It’s not a hidden fact that Indian cinema exhibits women as an object and man as aggressive and conservative. That actually decides the attitude of men and women in the society. Imagine a scene where a girl gets raped, what could be the further story. Anyone that follows Bollywood would get it easily. The society will curse her, she would be burden on her family and from nowhere a hero would come who apparently fight for her. Meanwhile, a girl who was trying to get out of the trauma of being raped has to go through the “SAMAJ KE TAANE” and all the pressure. And this ultimately shows that a girl can not protect herself. She need to rely on a man for her whole life.

Besides all this drama, a mother could teach her daughter to be brave enough to fight against all odds. Instead of not buying her white jeans, she couldtalk to her aboutmenstruation. Instead of, stopping her to talk to boys, she could teach her to be strong and responsible. She could teach her to sense the difference between good touch and bad touch. But, she did exactly what she was taught by her mother. Not surprisingly, this is something that an Indian woman passes on to her daughter and so on.

Apparently, this is where we live. Boys would have that liberty but it suffocates when you need to think 100 times while leaving home or denying someone’s offer because you never know, when you’ll be a victim of an acid attack. Girls are always taught that “ekaurat ka asligehnauski izzat hotihai” ( A girl’s real ornament is her honor) first of all, I never get why the woman are shown very obsessive about ornaments, I mean, there are a lot of women out there who are carrier oriented not ornament’s.this line is wrong, its like you’re saying as educated women don’t like to wear jewellery or only illiterate women wear jewellery. Such irrational thoughts should be eradicated first. It would be better if we work on making a better place for women to live too. This all will happen with the Quality of Education. Girl should be well educated about menstruation and their biological changes in a healthy way. Not only girls but the boys should be taught to respect girls. Only then we can change the society. This can be written in a more refined way.
