'Nepotism' ,it is such a strong and powerful word which in actual can make or break anyone's life in a positive or in a negative manner.Nepotism is the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs or a position whether they are deserving or not.Nepotism not only in India but all across the globe takes place. But the amount or ratio of India is slightly bigger in terms of the other countries. In India Nepotism can be seen in Politics,Business,Music Industry,Sports,Bollywood etc.But in recent years among all other sectors this ratio is at its peak in the boundaries of Bollywood.
In Bollywood there are in genuine about a bunch of stars who get film offers based on there paternal's reference. And a handful of stars who have actually have the right talent, ponds of struggle and still has not got that amount of stardom or power as these star kids get. These star kids mostly get launched by either there parents film label or by some other reputed director. One of the most famous family's of the Bollywood who are the greatest example from over a decade is the Kapoor Family.Be it Kapoor,Khan or Dhawan, sometimes or most of the times these star kids are such a failure at the box office but still manage to get offers. On the other hand people who actually thrive and struggle to build a legacy are not even get a millienum chances sometimes.
lThere are some production companies which actually give the new comers a chance like the Yash Raj Productions who introduced us with such talented actors like Ranveer Singh,Anushka Sharma,Shahrukh Khan,Sushant Singh Rajput,Siddhart Malhotra.Whereas, there are some companies like the Dharma Productions which always cast star kids like Alia Bhatt,Varun Dhawan,Janhvi Kapoor,Ishan Khattar,Tiger Shroff etc.Amoung these star kids there are just a handful of them who are able to get the audiences attention at the box office at times.
The Biggest Example Of Nepotism was introduced from the film 'Student of the Year' which stared Alia Bhatt,Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra as the leading trio. But soon after its release film offers came to all but majority of the films were starer of Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Many of the film critics and even the public also disliked the over reacting performances of Varun Dhawan in movies like Dhishoom,Main Tera Hero,Judwa 2 etc. but still he was showered by offers just because he is the son of David Dhawan.Unlike,Siddharth Malhotra who performed so well at Ek Villain,Ittefaq etc.
Another aspect of nepotism is that the showoff or speechs given by these star kids of how hard they have worked quoting for there First Film.We do agree that coveting that first debut is the biggest challenge,For hundreds of new actors who come to Mumbai every day, finding that stepping stone is next to impossible. The least they can do is work hard to get the 2nd opputunity as well but most of the times the place is taken by the Star Kids of our industry. The value of the “first film” is very much in turn underplayed by the star kids who try to justify their presence by proclaiming that after their first film they have to work hard.
Examples of some films which starred these Star Kids and got negative or mixed reviews are:Dhadhak,Half Girlfriend,Hum Lekar Deewana Dil,Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai,Main Prem Ki Deewani Hun,Besharam,Saawariya etc. Thus,Bollywood needs to be honest and more transparent as how it works now.Directors should thus pick actors who have the right amount of potential not the right surname. Thus,if we believe that it should stop in films then it should thus stop in other professions too.
