Body is a structural and functional part of human life. The ironical part is we are criticising that integral segment everyday. Abusing your body or another’s on the basis of physical appearance is what we call body shaming. Body shaming has now become a social stigma.

Body shaming has many layers that require our attention. As we all know that criticizing others for their body is a part of this stigma but there is one more aspect to this. Even condemning your own body contributes to body shaming. One doesn’t need to change himself/herself just for others approval rather one need to change the society and fight for their fundamental right.

We have so many advertisements especially television advertisement that conveys on how to lose weight, how to gain a fair skin and so many. Yes, these are small pieces that accord to this situation. Do you really think that getting a skinny body would give you fame or respect in the society?Apart from body shaming we have so many other things that never comes into account like face shaming, hair shaming and even language shaming. You think this is justified?Even fairy tales showcases body shaming.

We have set the rules that governs whether the person is beautiful or not. And what are these rules fair complexion, slim body, good height etc.? We have matrimonial advertisements, websites that pays more emphasis on your looks rather than your manners or character. Products like slim tea, slim belt and complexion creams are nothing but a mode to shatter your confidence ,esteem and yourpersonality. One starts losing faith in themselves. People say that we should adopt modern technology, make innovations in theproductsbut are they following the same approach for their thoughts, their mindset.

This needs to be given attention lest this may become mark of disgrace in the society. I am not condemning Indians for this but every national who are a part of this. One needs to change but how?Workshops, motivational speeches are these doing enough to eradicate this?Though we had many debates regarding complexion creams but still they are been broadcasted on the television, social Medias and all those things where human participation is present.

One needs to change from within. One cannot impose his/her thoughts to make one realise of their mistake.Self introspection plays a very significant role in eradicating this prejudice. After introspection making amendments completes the entire cycle.

nicely expressed. the standards of beauty and perfection has become too narrow for people to fit in. we should learn to acknowledge and appreciate differences in human body, whether its for men or women. do check out my articles as well.
