Though the basic principles behind the exams were the evaluation of one’s ability, it has gradually changed from “evaluation” to “devastation”. Edison once said “a single sheet of paper cannot decide my future” but what was said, has become a matter of humour these days. Our education system has converted us to become a "marks oriented" student rather being a “goal-oriented” student.

Though academic score should be a considerable factor in one’s career but gone are the days when you had to work inside a stinky room for the rest of your life, now your space has plunged beyond that. The résumé has not evolved that much, but the skill section inside that has changed drastically. Although an employer will give preference to your graduation score, in your initial years, your degree will become a mere piece after a few years. Skills will define you and your work. No one will ask you about your university, or your score in the third semester!

Having decent skills is a blessing in disguise in this ever-changing world. Your clients will judge you on the basis of your representation or in case of your own business, your vision and compassion for others will determine the longevity of your venture.

Developing some interpersonal skills like Self-confidence, respectfulness, listening capabilities, your body language, a mesmerizing attitude will surely help you sustain yourself in the long run. No interviewer will ever want his selected candidate to underperform in his assigned job. Whereas, intrapersonal skills are said to be the backbone of any person’s life. Discipline, visualization of goal, removing negativity is not new to us. We all know the importance of discipline in life. I can recall one line which says-“Early birds get the worms and an early worm gets eaten”!

Skills are the backbone of one’s success and possessing adequate skills will provide you with finding new ways of problem-solving, will boost your self-confidence, will teach you to accept your mistake and will guide you with maintaining harmony with your friends and colleagues.
