I guess you all kind of know that surprised feeling when something that you thought wouldn't be so good turned out to be one of your favorites. Here, I am going to say you about some of the books that I hadn't expected to be so good and got pleasantly surprised after reading them.
Ok. I know that many of you would be shocked. "Why you muggle! How could you have ever doubted this great book?" I know. I will also have the same reaction if anyone doubted this fantastic series. But, before I read the first book, I was thinking "I guess that this whole series is going to be filled with some kind of fight or other". So, I was really skeptical about reading them. But, after I overcame the initial doubt and opened the first book, I was in for a wild ride and it also opened up ways for me to read more and more books by making my parents buy a kindle for me. It soon became one of my favorite series and still is. "After all this time? Always."
This is a series that I didn't find many reviews about. I was kind of in a dystopian fantasy phase at that time and bumped into this series. It is set in the future America where the world as we know now is destroyed by war and natural disasters. The government officials are chosen by a process called testing which is used to select the students for the university. But, the testing has a very dark side which is revealed as the story progresses. It is really a captivating story that will make you feel Cia's feelings in each and every page.
I stumbled upon this wonderful series when I was looking for Fairytale Retellings. I had already seen it under the tags of Sci-Fi, Dystopian Fantasy and Romance. I was intrigued as to how a book can be in all these genres. At first, the cover of Cinder fooled me into thinking that the book will be a boring Sci-Fi. But, seeing it listed as a fairytale retelling did the trick for me. Cinderella in a Sci-Fi, Dystopian world? Wow. It has an array of fantastic characters. And guess what? The girls save the day (and the Earth) in this novel!
