Introduction to the protagonist

A man in his late 70s or early 80s was staring down at the window. He lived alone in a moderate size bungalow situated in a village near Essex, England. His skin was very pale, wrinkled and was almost lifeless. He was wearing his usual clothes i.e beige yellow shirt with brown pants. As he was doing so, there was a reflection of a little boy on the window. The boy was around 11-12 years old wearing an orange t-shirt with denim overall. The man was startled to see that. As he turned around he was gone. The man started following the boy around the corridor. But he disappeared in front of his eyes.

Stranger things happening

As the days go by, the presence of the boy keeps growing. The sounds of creaks on the wooden floor and the giggles kept him awake at night. Due to this, the man has gone insomniac. There were times that the boy shouts “papa”. Recurrence of the boy kept appearing and disappearing in a blink and miss way. One day, he was napping in the afternoon when suddenly he heard a faint whisper saying,” Papa, wake up”. He woke up to a face which was familiar to the extent that might have given him a shock. It was not just any boy but in fact his son. The boys resemble a lot with his father.

Revelation

Tears start rolling down from his eyes. He was about to give a tight hug when realises that his son is actually a ghost. Turns out that his son died a long time ago in an accident. After that incident, it scared him forever. He did remain the happy person as he was. It changed him. He disconnected himself from the world and even his family. Throughout his life, he blamed himself for his death.

He finally said whimpering," I'm sorry, son.I wasn't able to save you. Please forgive me."

His son replied, " Papa, it's okay. You don't need to blame for something that is out of your reach. Just remember I will always there with you. I promise."

His son gave him a light peck on his cheek and he vanished. That night, the man had a peaceful sleep. With that, he opened his eyes to the scenery which too good to be true. He saw his son playing with his ball. He was in a land which is called paradise.
