Los Cabos is a city located at the southern tip of Mexico on the 1000 mile long Baja California Peninsula. It is surrounded by the North Pacific Ocean on the southern side. It has a population of around 3 Lakh people. The city has beautiful beaches due to it being a coastal city, which attracts many tourists. Tourism is the main economic activity of the Los Cabos municipality. It is ranked second among beach resorts for tourists. The municipality comprises of Cabo San Lucas along with San José del Cabo. It is a unique mixture of desert landscapes, mountainous areas and beaches and was listed in one of the must-see places by National Geographic in 2017.

Safety issues in Los Cabos

Los Cabos is famous by the name of the most dangerous city in the world. It has a murder rate of 111.33 per 100,000 people. This town has always been in headlines due to the alarming increase of crimes and murders and indicates the increase in crimes in Mexico over the past few years. Around 365 homicides were reported in the city in 2017. The violence mainly takes place due to the issues and conflicts raised due to the increasing drug trade in the city. Although the tourists are not usually targeted, one can never be at peace knowing that they are in the most dangerous city in the world. These crimes have led to creating a bad reputation for the city.

There are quite a number of horrific incidents that topped the Mexican headlines for days. Shortly before Christmas in 2017, six bodies were found hanging from a bridge and it was said to be a gruesome public display that had happened for the first time. The narco gangs were to be blamed. In August, eight dead bodies were found in a hotel area. In September, disguised gunmen showed up at the famous Garibaldi Plaza and created violence which led to the death of six Mexican citizens. Many other horrific incidents have taken place including a lot of bloodshed, and the homicides keep adding up.

It is said that the crimes usually take places away from tourist areas. Regardless, one way or the other, the beauty of the city makes fearless tourists still visit this city and there is an increase of around 4 percent in international tourism visits. It is known that around two million people visit Los Cabos every year.

The city is famous for its beaches and deserts. One can take part in underwater diving at Cabo Pulmo or enjoy the thrills of surfing in the North Pacific Ocean, take a walk in the sand at Playa El Médano and experience the beauty of nature. The Boardwalk Promenade around the Cabo San Lucas Merina is also very famous to take a stroll at. You can master the art of shopping at San José del Cabo and enjoy the delicious Baja Style Fish Tacos. The city also has one of the world's hundred greatest golf courses where you can play golf. Overall, the city is quite happening and very enjoyable. All that is needed to be kept in mind is to be sure of your safety, and the city will give you wonders.
