About Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is a city in South America and the capital of Argentina. The words 'Buenos Aires' can be translated to 'free winds' in the common Spanish language. It is the biggest cosmopolitan city of Argentina and has a population of around 30 Lakhs. The city is very old and was established in 1536 by Pedro de Mendoza. It is the tenth most populous city in the American continents. As per the tourism point of view, it is the most visited city of the South American continent. The city has a very diverse culture and many other languages except for Spanish are spoken there as well.

It is considered as one of the most liveable cities due to its diverse culture and great location along with having a sea coast. It is surrounded on the right by Rio de la Plata, a river in South America. At the center of the city, the Plaza de Mayo is situated which is surrounded by famous 19th-century historical structures. The temperature there is humid and subtropical and it rarely faces extreme weather conditions. The most commonly practiced religion of the city is Christianity and the city has a large number of ancient Roman Catholic Churches. The city is sometimes referred to as 'The Paris of South America' due to the reflection of European Culture in that city.

Architecture of the city

The architectural aspect of the city of Buenos Aires is quite amazing and it is considered as an architectural wonderland by the people due to mixed styles of architecture from neoclassical to Italian. The city has the world's widest avenue, the Avenida 9 de Julio, which is a remarkable example and worth watching if you want to see the most beautiful part of the city. And at the demolished site on an old church, on the widest street of the world, one of the most famous attractions is located: the iconic 71-meter long Obelisco de Buenos Aires, which is a cake to the eyesight.

We all know how famous the Argentina football team and Lionel Messi are between the football fans. As Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina, the people have high enthusiasm for football and devote their spirits to it. Also, the city is home to the renowned and one of the most celebrated player of the team, Diego Maradona, who had led Argentina in the 1986 FIFA World Cup.

Plaza de Mayo

Located at the center of the city, it is the number one tourist attraction place. Since the independence revolution of Argentina began in 1810, this place is considered quite crucial from a political point of view. Several other famous tourist attractions and located surrounding Plaza de Mayo like the May Pyramid, which is one of the oldest monuments of the city. Caminito

Caminito is not really a monument or a historical place but is one of the most colorful streets of Buenos Aires. The word Caminito translates in Spanish to 'little street'. The artists of the city usually can be seen working there and making the street attractive and colorful. It is a must watch place if you ever visit the city as Buenos Aires is very famous for its street art. The street was originally a stream that dried up with time and tracks were built on it. As an icing to the cake, several museums worth visiting are located along the street as well.
