Put Your Bucket List In Your Bucket!

I had no clue whatsoever what a bucket list was until I heard of such an absolutely fascinating idea in my 9th grade. The students in my class kept discussing about what they had and did not have in their “bucket list” and how, when, where, and under what circumstances they wished to go through with them and check off those wishes from their bucket list one by one.

So what exactly is a bucket list? A bucket list, you may arguably say, is a list that you make or place in a bucket. But unfortunately, or rather fortunately if you think about it, that is not the case. A bucket list is a list of tasks or stuff that you saw someone doing somewhere and it might have be absolutely bizarre or absolutely simple and trivial, but you somehow for some reasons known only to you thought that it would be cool to do and not doing it would leave your existence a questionable offence.

So you can have almost anything and everything that you some day wish to complete. This could go from wanting to pet a squirrel to opening your own restaurant to proposing to your girlfriend on the top of Mt. Everest (though I would personally suggest you to rethink your sanity if you are serious about the last one, like my childhood close friend. He can act quite nuts at times). A few weeks ago I read about a woman who had one thousand items and wishes in her bucket list and the list included stuff from swimming with whale sharks to having a mojito and a cigar at Cuba to visiting a nudist beach to going a month without using the internet to go searching for the Loch Ness Monster. Now those are some of the things on that one CRAZY but thrilling bucket list.

You do not need to have a crazy bucket list to have something to show off to your friends. A much smaller and simpler task-to-do bucket list would be as fascinating and thrilling for you if you know crystal clear what you wish to do.

Now look at my bucket list for instance.

1.Go four months without needing a new pair of earphones

2.Eat paper

3.Have a golden retriever puppy as my pet

4.Donate 1/8th of my salary for a child’s education in a private school for three years

5.Learn swimming

6.Kill an accused murderer in a single headshot

7.Eat all the desserts in the video of: “42 desserts you must eat before you die”

8.Live the village life for 21 days (currently working on this one!...yayy!)

9.Climb halfway up the Kilimanjaro

10.Make a perfectly circular roti.

And a host of other stuff that may sound way off my league, but I’m quite positive about my failures and also, I need to prove my best friend that I am NOT scared of swimming, so yeah. Let’s find out.

Go on. Make your own list. Challenge your limits. Do the undoable. Get some thrill in your life. You might even surprise yourself. <3
