Have you ever think about walking in the air? I am not talking about any super natural power but I can tell you the place where you feel such sensation. Crossing the glass bridge of China is somewhat the same. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is the longest and the highest glass bridge in the world. The bridge was opened to the public on August 2016, measuring 430 meters in total length and 6 meters in breadth. It is suspended 300 meters above the ground. The bridge spans the canyon between two mountain cliffs in Zhangjiajie National forest Park.

The bridge has been with a special glass with a thickness of 3.5 centimeters. Each pane of this glass can hold a maximum weight of 4.7 tones. The bridge can carry up to 2600 people at a time. The reason which makes your experience more thrilling is the sound and visual effect of glass shattering. This makes the sensation that the glass bridge is cracking. it seems so funny when tourists traversing the bridge, some prays for god to help them while some walk with their eyes close. It would be a good task for adventure loving people.

The glass bridge of china gained wide popularity after its opening. There are so many videos of Glass Bridge of China that got viral showing tourists having thrilling and terrifying experiences while walking through the bridge.

The famous glass bridge of China was designed by architect Haim Dotan. Glass panels are set into its walkway, giving visitors vertigo-inducing views and photo opportunities. Steel beams support the structural glass plates, which Tel Aviv-based Dotan used to make the bridge as “invisible”. To build the bridge, engineers erected 4 support pillars on the edges of the walls of the canyon. The bridge is made up of a metal frame with more than 120 glass panels. Each of these panels is 3 layerd and is a 2 inch thick slab of tempered glass. Also there is a provision for making a 285 metres bungee jump.

The bridge has set ten world records spanning its design and construction. Tickets to access the glass bridge cost £16, in addition to the £13.50 charge to visit the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Scenic Area, which is located in China’s Hunan Province.

We drove a 40 ton truck over one of the glass panels, and the deflection was only 2.16 cm,” saysHaim Dotan, the Tel Aviv-basedarchitectbehind the project. “But this was not enough. So we invited people to take hammers to the bridge, hammering the glass for five minutes. Under these heavy blows only the top layer shattered – the bottom two remained intact.”
