There are certain people who call others fat, skinny, dark or belittle. No matter how body shaming comes from, it can be hurtful. If people find a dark complexioned person they are even called 'nigro'. You cannot really say this. It is now considered very offensive. Don't make them the butt of your jokes.

Generally, people with anxiety tend to overthink everything and when it comes to remarks about their bodies it is no different. Body-shaming leads to anxiety, depression, social isolation and loss of confidence in oneself.

Effect on health

It has been reported that body-shaming lead to eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. In anorexia, a person starves themselves obsessively to lose weight if they are too fat according to the conventional standard. This lead to dehydration, constipation, undernourishment, bloating and even irregular menstrual cycles. In Bulimia, a person eats excessively to gain weight if they are too skinny and it is reported to lead similar health problems.

If you really notice drastic change in your friend's appearance like they look tired, they seem to be gaining weight, it could be a sign of something more serious going on. So instead of giving free advises or rather taunting that person, ask them how they are doing. Listen to them. Don't judge by looks only. Each and everyone is beautiful irrespective of their shape, size, and colour. So whether you are skinny, curvy, tall, short, pale, or dark skinned, you are gorgeous.

We all are different and our routes are too different. We all human beings have different problems in our life. So rather than taunting or hurting that person, accept them. If you cannot accept seriously stay away.

This is a beautiful poem Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou. Just read it and see yourself in a mirror. Yes! you are beautiful.

Be confident the way you are.
I am telling you my girly
You are beautiful. 😊
