No matter what genre you are a fan of, Brooklyn nine nine is killing it in the sitcom genre. Unlike most American sitcoms, Brooklyn nine nine isn’t problematic. It isn’t racist, sexist, homophobic and carries out its humour effortlessly in an innocent yet effective way. Not only is its casting diverse, but all of them are genuinely nice people in real life as well. This is a list of just some of the reasons why Brooklyn nine nine is the best sitcom out there.

1.People of colour in position

It is not common in American sitcoms to see people of colour in position of high power. Brooklyn nine nine doesn’t only have a black man as a captain of the precinct but he is a gay as well. It gives an diverse representation of people who genuinely care about the law and are fully dedicated to their jobs and love what they do. It also has a black man as the Sergeant who is kind, a loving father and husband. No matter what we believe, media influences the way we perceive the world, and good representation is a great way of portraying healthy relationships.

2. Healthy Relationships

The characters in the show fight, have feuds but they have some of the most healthiest relationships. Charles and Rosa, Amy and Holt, Jake and Amy, Holt and Kevin, wether it be gay or straight, a friendship or a bromance between Scully and Hitchcock. Brooklyn nine nine doesn’t have hierarchies between any of them and it goes on to be form a healthy work and home environment as well. These characters are portrayed in the most diverse way and come together as a group of genuine peopleno matter what kind of family background they come from.

3. The Halloween Heists

The Halloween heists have become a tradition at the 99. Watch as the characters turn on each other and bring out the most fun tactics to defeat each other. In the recent developments the halloween heist has been used as a proposal for Amy which couldn’t have been a better proposal. The heists are the most fun to watch as we get to see the serious and intense Captain Holt turn into a vindictive villain.

4. The Fans

We just can’t ignore the fact that after Fox cancelled Brooklyn Nine Nine, NBC picked it up in less than a day. It wouldn’t have been possible without the unanimous effort of the fans that created an uproar on the internet which got their favourite show back. The Brooklyn nine nine fanbase supports and love these characters as well as the actors endlessly and has proved that they would go to any lengths to fight for them and to protect them.
