Does it ever occur to you that you need some hours more in a day to live the day fully?
It has occurred to me many a times. Have you ever thought why is it so? Why we want more hours in a day? The answer is quite simple that we are unable to finish all the work and duties in the given 24 hours.

The answer to all such problems lie in one thing i.e. time management.
Time management is the ability to use one's time effectively or productively, especially at work. Basically it is key to efficient working.

All the humans on this earth get the same 24 hours in a day but still some are doing very well and some are not. Doing the work for hours and keeping the self busy does not mean being efficient. Hardwork is important but it has no meaning if you do not know how to do 'smart work'. The relation between 'the time devoted to do a task' and 'the result we got' is the most important thing. If doing hours of work and still not getting appropriate results means that it was a complete waste of time and energy.

A proper time management leads to many benefits. Some of them are as follows :

  • Stress relief : Having a schedule of all the work to be done in a day would allow us to do each work in a set order. This will lead to finish of work on time and hence results in stress relief.

  • Better results : It is a well known fact that dividing your time for different works and completing them accordingly leads to better and productive results.

  • More time : If one understandsthe skill of time management then he will never complaint for the lack of time. Instead he would be having some more time in which he can explore other areas of interest or might develop a hobby.

Now the big question arises that how to do time management. Here is the answer of this question :

  • Set the goals in a correct way : A work can only be done if we know what we want out of it. It is important to set the goals in a correct way in order to achieve them. This can be done by verifying that the goal selected must be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound.

  • Setting priority : We all have to do a lot of task in a day. If we start doing all of them together then none will be completed correctly. Mark Twain once said, "If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And If it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first." His point was to do most important task first. We know that some tasks are more important than other. Prioritizing the work wisely helps to complete the important task first and then doing other accordingly.

  • Set a time limit to every task : Some of our work might takes hours and some might be completed in minutes. If we set a limit to every task there would not be unnecessary wastage of time for small work. These days people spend a lot of time on social media. One should set a time limit for using it by applying app alert on it.

  • Planning ahead : If you want to achieve your goals then it is important to plan the future work i.e.planning the whole dayin the morning or may be planning a whole week on monday.
