With the summer in full bloom a lot of you all are constantly looking for ways to protect yourself from the sun damage. Well worry not as I come with some absolute essentials to protect yourself from sun damage as well as reverse the effect of some of the nasty sun damage.

First understand what is causing the sun damage in the first place :-
It is the UV component of the sun which causes harmful effects on the skin. Also did you know that about 75-80% of signs of ageing is also caused by sun exposure and not because of ageing itself. In addition it further causes drooping skin, skin sagging, loss of elasticity of skin, overly sensitive skin, dry and rough skin.

1)A good place to start is by avoiding all those lemon DIY’s that are floating all over the internet. They are doing you more harm than good. Lemon has chemicals that activate under sunlight causing skin burns. So go ahead pickup the lemons and make some refreshing drinks but don't take it anywhere near your face..

2)It might be finally time to invest in some good Vitamin C serums. They actually help protecting the skin from sun damage in addition to healing the existing sun damage. This is a good step to include in your morning regimen as an extra layer of protection. For more mature skin or skin prone to dryness it is better to go for Vitamin C serums that come along with hyaluronic acid combination. It induces higher doses of hydration to the skin in addition to reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

3)Never step out of the house without sun protection. Them shades and umbrella’s are all good as an additional protection but sunscreen is what you need for deep skin protection. (Guess it’s finally time to take out the sunscreen from your closet which was waiting for beach holidays..)

4)Exfoliation is an important step of the skin routine to get rid of dead skin( also called stratum corneum) and never skip it. However the secret to a good skin is the right amount of exfoliation. It restores smooth appearance, get rid of uneven skin tone and deep cleans it. However never overdo exfoliation as it can cause severe skin issues like breakouts, dry skin etc.

5)Hydrate yourself inside and outside equally. Have plenty of water to replenish yourself. Dead skin turnover will be high only when body can flush out toxins quicker. External hydration will increase collagen production and keep skin looking supple.

6)Try some refreshing DIY’s with cucumbers and aloes. They have cooling effects and remove skin tan.

7)Be very extra cautious with everything that you include in your morning routine. There are a lot of ingredients that might accelerate sun burns and leave skin sensitive to sun damage.

8)Antioxidants as an addition to your diet are extremely helpful to reverse the sun damage. Try having as much antioxidants as possible (like green tea, tomato, sweet potato, salmon etc..) They help preventing collagen breakdown, reduce appearance of signs of ageing, protects elasticity of skin and calms wounds and inflammations on skin.

With these tips go conquer the scorching sun with your summer outfits waiting to come out…..
