Recetly I have been hooked to Let's Kill This Love by Blackpink a rather famous Korean girl band having over 24 million subscribers in YouTube and Millions of fans worldwide, it made me think why and how had these bands infiltrated the Indian societies obsession for Bollywood music and USA and Europe based bands in such a short time? The reasons are as follows-

1. The music is new and refined. It's unique to itself. I love my country and it's culture but even then I cannot deny the fact that there had been a recent degradation of music quality in India, the lyrics are lame, the raps lost its appeal, the old songs remixed over and over again. From a feminist point of view songs like Coca-Cola though have a short lived entertainment value are rather outrageous.

2. The sets are lavishly made, the costumes are enticing and the fact that the singers/ idols are damn gorgeous and well groomed by the industry adds a cherry to the top. The younger generation loves them. On the other hand, most Bollywood songs despite being part of high budget films have no standing on their own. Though some are lavishly, expensive cars girls in scantly clad dresses and all that, there is nothing new in it... creativity is much lacked. Also the singers are not much recognized in the video.

3. Worldwide access to Internet, have helped K-pop reach even the remotest city. Superior and elite songs are what they are, people take pride in being K-pop fans. And let's face it the lyrics are much more empowering, the videos much more appealing.
