“Five to Thrive is about things that anyone can do to be happy and healthy. In a world where we are manipulated by lots of things, we neglect our mental health. Stress is the biggest factor for a lot of people nowadays and five to thrive demonstrates how everyone can handle making small changes in everyday life."
CONNECT:
Humans are social animals. Human bonds come up with a social web which hold us all up. Invest time in connecting with people around you. Relationships allow us to share our feelings, give positive experiences and emotional support.
Discover why face-to-face connections are important in life rather than simply having social connections. Strengthen your relationships with family, friends, and community.
Take time and plan a family dinner, make effort to phone people rather than following the habit of texting, messaging and emailing
Catch up school friends over a coffee,
Knock on the neighbour’s door,
Send a note to school teacher
Skype and Facetime particularly if you live apart
BE ACTIVE:
Being active is good for your health, and it also improves mental wellbeing. There is a link between being physically active and having good mental wellbeing, as body and mental health equally get affected.
Being active doesn’t mean spending hours sweating in the gym every day; however, it is physical activities like;
Walk, run, and cycle
Go to the gardens
Dance
Try swimming
TAKE NOTICE:
Don’t rush your life noticing much and allow yourself to see the present undoubtedly and change the way you see your life.
Most people have issues that are hard to let things go and begin to experience things like taken for granted. Free yourself from past problems and future worries.
Follow meditations like sitting silently
Notice every day and try something new
Be curious and appreciate what matters to you reflecting on your experience of past
LEARNING:
Learning new skills is always very useful. Research shows learning throughout life can improve mental wellbeing and give us more satisfaction, self-confidence and ability to get most from life.
Make learning a part of your life, other than continuing classes and courses as normal ways to learn new things today,
Make a visit to a museum or gallery and learn about the history
Indulge yourself in a DIY project through video tutorials online
Learn to cook new recipes never eaten at home
Try to learn a new language
Rediscover old hobbies like sewing, knitting, and writing
GIVING:
Most people would find giving to others as a small act of kindness. It gives you a sense of purpose. Wellbeing is not about a good job, income, home, a car you have but it’s to feel satisfied in life. Acts of giving and kindness, small and large, give positive feelings.
Offer a hand to any stranger struggling
Give time and support to someone who’ll benefit from you inproject
Practice volunteering in your community
The need to focus on good mental health and wellbeing throughout our lives. Understanding of the relation between both mental and physical health at all stages of life leads to a focus on improved health in later life for all of us.
“THE KEY TO WELLNESS IS TO ACCEPT PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR HEALTH AND WELLBEING.”
