Because I feel that, in the Heavens above, The angels whispering to one another, Can find, among their burning terms of love, None so devotional as that of "Mother"

God's Reflection: Mother

An incredible gift by Almighty, without her our life can become a matter of question. An epitome of purity, love, sacrifice, and devotion. A soul who reflects inner peace. No matter what you achieve in your life, you'll always seek your mother's lap. She's a solution to all your problems and answers to all your prayers. During gloomy days of life, during those dark nights and in the times of glee and pleasure. There is always one person beside you and that's your mother.

Motherhood is blessing to you and it must be celebrated. Mother's Day is celebrated in most of the countries on 2nd Sunday of May. It's not like we need a day to celebrate motherhood but it's important to just pause for a moment and thank our mothers for all the altruistic love and care.

History of Mother's Day :

Ann Reeves Jarvis once closed her Sunday school lesson with a prayer that someone would one day found a memorial day to commemorate mothers for"the matchless service she renders to humanity."Her daughter Anna Jarvis, then 12 years old, remembered that prayer for the rest of her life. In 1907, two years after her mother's death, Anna Jarvis began to lobby for a national holiday in her honor. She wrote thousands of letters to people of influence, including Teddy Roosevelt(26th U.S President), William Jennings Bryan(Former United States Secretary of State), and Mark Twain(American Writer). In early 1908, the Senate rejected her Mother's Day resolution.

But she wouldn't be deterred. On May 10, 1908, Jarvis spoke at the first official Mother's Day services - one at her childhood church in Grafton, West Virginia; anoter at a sold-out venue in Philadelphia.

Her idea caught on like wildfire, at least unofficially. And over the next few years, the majority of states in the U.S held Mother's Day celebration. Jarvis petitioned state governors for official Mother’s Day proclamations every single year. She asked people to observe the day by visiting(or at least writing to) their mothers.

"Live this day as your mother would have live it," she said. Finally, the tide had turned. The U.S government officially designated Mother’s Day as national holiday in 1914. President Woodrow Wilson signed a measure officially establishing the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day.

Mother’s Day around the world :
Various versions of Mother’s Day are celebrated worldwide. They vary depending on the country. In Thailand, for example, Mother’s Day is always celebrated in August on the birthday of the current queen, Sirikit.

Another alternate observance of Mother’s Day can be found in Ethiopia, where families gather each fall to sing songs and eat a large feast as part of Antrosht, a multi-day celebration honoring motherhood.

In the United States, Mother’s Day continues to be celebrated by presenting mothers and other women with gifts and flowers. Families also celebrate by giving mothers a day off from activities like cooking or other household chores.

In India also, people show affection to their mothers and dedicate whole day to them.
People in various countries celebrate this event on different dates and days according to the country norms and calender.

Mothers are the soul that must be cherished , loved and honored each and everyday.
