Find a random stranger on the streets of India and ask them what their thoughts are about their country. Almost all of them will tell you how unclean the roads are, how corrupt the politicians are, or how unsafe the country is for women. Now, I agree to everything that they say. I agree with all their criticisms and complaints, but here's something to tell you that our country is not all that bad. Here's an overview of how much we've achieved as a nation and how much we don't know about our own motherland.
The Indian Constitution is the longest written constitution of the world. India is home to more than 19,500 languages or dialects spoken all over the country. By 2025, India will house the largest workforce in the world. India is home to the largest number of engineers in the world (though you all should've practically known this by now). We have the world's second largest military force guarding our nation and we're also the second largest contributor of troops to the United Nation's peacekeeping efforts. India houses the largest tribal population, along with the largest vegetarian population. All our crazy adoration for films did not go to waste because India is the largest producer of feature films across the globe.
We, Indians , are the second largest English speaking population in the world and we do the most hours of reading per week, beating all other citizens of other nations. So it isn't just boasting when they say that Indians are one of the smartest people in the world. India is the largest producer of milk and cotton. It is also the second largest producer of rice, and no matter how ironic this sounds, you should know that we're one of the highest exporters of beef in the world. We are proud owners of one of the top 5 space programs in the world with great accomplishments in our kitty like Chandrayaan and Mangalyan. Chandrayaan-I helped NASA confirm the presence of water molecules on the Moon and the launch of Mangalyan made India the first Asian country to launch a space shuttle that entered Mars, and only the fourth nation in the world to successfully send a space shuttle to Mars in its first attempt. The Indian company- Motocorp, is the largest manufacturer of two wheelers globally.
India is home to "Tamil", the oldest language of the world which came into existence at around 500 BC and is still spoken by a large section of the population of India. Much to the delight of cricket fans, Indians constitute 90% of the one Billion cricket fans around the world. The Indian Premier League is the largest T20 cricket league in the world with the biggest fan base.
All these achievements that I'd compiled above do not do justice in explaining all that India's achieved and earned through the ages. So, the next time someone asks you your thoughts about India, add in a few good words along with your lengthy criticisms, because we've all got great things to be proud of, as Indians.
