Computer V/S Typewriter

A computer is a device that can be instructed to carry out sequences of arithmetic or logical operations automatically via computer programming.

A typewriter is a mechanical or electromechanical machine for writing characters similar to those produced by printer's movable type.

Everyone has given these definitions to these to two devices but what if I tell you that these two devices represent the two parts of a world. I am not talking about the west and the east or the north and the south. I am talking about the real world and the virtual world. The computer has the following features: has an option of backspace; has the options of cut, copy and paste; has the option of taking screenshots; can give information of the entire world with the help of internet; gives us a platform to shout out our opinions; etc; etc; etc. The typewriter has the following features: difficulty in using the backspace button; have to type everything on our own without cut, copy and paste; have to use our own brains to put out information on the paper; etc; etc; etc.

You can easily find the difference between them using the features I mentioned above but don’t you think they both represent the two types of the world which everyone live in simultaneously. Both the worlds have their own challenges and surprises. But there is one difference between them; we can come out of the virtual world whenever we want to but do you think it can happen in the real world.

Now, you must be thinking why I brought the computer and typewriter in middle of this. Let’s imagine! Computer is the virtual world where mistakes can be corrected with the backspace, we can copy anything from anywhere, connect with all over the world easily and what not. Computer gives us the space to correct ourselves, do what the others are doing and connect with people easily. Now coming to the typewriter, it is the REAL world. We do get chances to correct our mistakes but those chances are very difficult and tiring just like how difficult it is to use the backspace button on a typewriter. We cannot cut, copy and paste what others are doing because everyone has their own journeys and if we start copying from others’ journeys our own journey will become chaotic and idiotic to understand and get back to the right track.

Typewriter allows us to put in our own brains and refer to books instead of copying and pasting someone else’s information. We can still use the typewriters to shout out our opinions but at a slower pace because remember typewriter can only type directly on paper which form letters. Letters take a longer period of time to deliver your opinions. Letters are even written to relatives or friends or to people with whom we want to maintain a healthy relationship for a long period of time. And the most important thing; since using the backspace button on the typewriter is very difficult, we should always think carefully before typing. The same goes with our lives.

We have to put forward each and every step carefully as the real world gives chances which are very difficult to use to correct our mistakes.

So think, you want to live in the computer world or the typewriter world (I know typewriter is outdated but still think!!!)

P.S.:- Maybe very philosophical but think about it! May help you out at some point of your life:)
