The election commission of India is the autonomous electoral body of India which is held responsible for successful accomplishment of the greatest festival of democracy i.e the elections.

The headquarter of the election commission is held in New Delhi and this whole body is governed by Mr. Sunil Arora (chief election commissionerof India.)

This whole autonomous body having a staff of 300 is responsible for the accomplishment of the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, state legislative assembly, Presidential and Vice-presidential elections successfully and peacefully. The election commission of India operates underage article 324 of the Constitution. And was established in the year 1950.

The fundamental function of the election commission of India is to conduct free and fair election throughout India. Right from electing of a sarpanch for Gram Panchayat to the selection of Prime minister all the elections taken place a re-monitored by the election commission of India.

The election commission also assures that all the campaign has done before voting is fair and does not hurt the sentiment of a particular religion, group, etc.

And if any candidate is found doing so then he/she is punished accordingly. The whole process of election starts from the announcement of the date of election followed by the manifesto releasing by different parties followed by the filling of nomination by different candidates followed by the election campaign followed by voting day followed by the results of the voting.

It takes great enthusiasm and effort to make a successful election happen in such a great and big country like india. And it is the greatness of election commission that handles the whole election process so smoothly and efficiently that makes such a big election happen smoothly.

Nowadays election commission has also started to encourage youth and people towards the importance Of election by various means like by nuked nataks, by serving special services to the handicap to reach them to the polling booth, by making women-friendly polling booths, etc.
