I have a friend named Lilly, who has a big family. Her family moved to our city two decades ago. She always talks about her aunts, uncles, grandma and the time they spend together. Once I asked about her grandpa, I noticed that she only knew his name and that he expired after she was born, so she has no memories of him. One evening she questioned her grandma about her grandpa’s work and when they got married. After hearing the questions, all were in shock and gave different answers. The next day Lilly told me that her mother told her to never ask about Grandpa again. She was curious to know about her Grandpa but couldn’t ask anyone in the family. So she decided to find out about her grandpa on her own and asked me for help. I never say no to her, and I like adventures, so I agreed. The next thing she did was talking to her dad about from where had he and her uncle have completed their schooling, and she got a link to proceed further. The place mentioned by her dad was in another State, and my aunt lives nearby the town where their school was. We waited for the holidays, and she asked her parents for a visit to my aunt’s village with me. Luckily her parents agreed, and we both visited the village. After two days, I told my uncle that we are visiting one of my friend’s family near the town. We went to that place, and it was no longer small but was well developed. My friend enquired about her grandpa, and one person claimed to take us to him. My friend was in shock, and we followed him. He took us to the house and called an old man. My friend asked the old man about his name and his family. Tears rolled down his eyes as he told us what had happened to him. The old man was my friend’s Grandpa, who was once prisoned for no reason. All his friends and family didn’t trust him and left him for good. My friend was in tears and told the old man that she was his granddaughter. My friend asked him to go with her, and she would talk to the family about what had happened. Her grandpa told her that he didn’t have much time, and he was soon going to die. The old man wrote a letter to my friend’s dad and handed it to her with a document. When we returned home, she gave her dad the letter and the document. The letter written by her grandpa explained that he was not a criminal and was released, only to find out that his family has left him and might never come back. He also mentioned that he was happy to see his granddaughter in his last days. Reading the letter, her dad rushed to the village and found the grandpa suffering from fever. He took him to a hospital, but grandpa died before they could reach. In the ‘Will’ of Grandpa, it was written “I failed to build trust in my family, but I don’t want to fail as a human. I want to donate my properties to those who don’t have money to hire a lawyer and prove themselves innocent”. The whole family was grief ridden and was sorry for what they had done.

Trust your family. Sometimes they may seem to be wrong, but only you can judge your loved ones right as you have known them the longest.
