If romance according to our generation is "Among the green leaves as they shake, Far down within some shadowy lake," then my friend, we are looking for the mentioned sweet times of it. That is not love, that is but a feeling of rejoice, of the eccentric image of love that we hold in front of our eyes and claim to understand and exemplify the best of it, but in turn fail to cope with the worst. You see, a part of love vanishes as we seek for a forever. As the ancient saying goes, nothing lasts forever, probably not even love. Though our myths and literature stand right against this statement but reality holds a different way, a very different one. But this day, we are going to talk about characters that knew exactly what 'forever' meant.

The world called him a villain until it saw the rainbow underneath that black. Black robe, long hair and a calm face who belonged to the most evil part of the era. The world thought regardless of what crosses his path, we would always remain the spice of the cake. The story turned the other way round when he revealed that all he did was for his love, the only love he had who did not love him back. Yes, Severus Snape. Since he was a little child, with pure blood running under his flesh and a broken family, since he met Lily Potter as a little kid and assured her that being a muggle does not make any difference, he had loved her. Purely and intensely, he did love her. He did everything possible to keep her alive, he begged Professor Dumbledore of her life, though that did not work because Lily Potter died in order to save her son, Harry Potter but gave him her eyes. The climax where Snape dies, his memories flow from his eyes in the form of tears and asked Harry to see in the Pensieve, where he saw that little-thin faced boy who once knew a girl called Lily, Harry's mother. That, I think, was love.

"Some people standby you in your darkest hour while others walk away"- that's where exactly William won over her and gave up on his ego. Philippa, on the other hand fell entirely in love with him and his flaws. Both of them accepted all the best and worst they had, while love took over the intense competition they were in and surprisingly, they were happy. Jeffrey Archer penned down this little yet sweet short story called 'Old Love' where the two souls who were so in love could not be away from each other more than a few hours. Perhaps their life was written on the basis of intellectual intelligence and considerable rivalry that was knitted with the thread called love. They ended up marrying each other but their egos were still on fire. Once Philippa was proven wrong by her husband over the existence of a word "whym-wham". She checked the Oxford Dictionary while her husband was out for work and she died out of heart attack. Hearing of his wife's death, William too put an end to his life because without her, his life had no meaning. He leaves a note that said "he had to let her know.." He just had to.
