Little women

"Women, they have minds, and they have souls, as well as just hearts. And they’ve got ambition, and they’ve got talent, as well as just beauty. I’m so sick of people saying that love is all a woman is fit for.”
—Jo March

The famous novel has been adapted to many TV shows and feature films ,but 2019 version of Little Women is quite different from the rest.Greta Gerwig refreshes the classic and embraces the source story. The movie takes us back to 19th century but is still utterly modern. The movie reorders the sequence of events to compare the past with present.

The movie has a wonderful and dazzling cast - Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep etc.Jo March, the main character brilliantly portrayed by Saoirse was also an inspiration of Louisa May Alcott ,the author of the novel.Gerwig acknowledges the commercial pressure of authors at that time to marry off a fictional female character and gives the author an ending which she actually wished for.Gerwig also portrays Amy as a talented and smart girl rather than spoiled and bratty as shown in the other versions.Florence Pugh gives complete justice to the character.Emma Watson perfectly portrayed Meg with her sweetness and tender earnesty.Laura Den was wonderful in her role as Marmee.Gerwig tried to bring more aspects from Alcott's life to the movie.

Little women is a sweet but strong story about family. There is a scene where Jo tells Amy that life is too short to be angry at one's sister ,the movie is all about the love among sisters.Little women beautifully portrays the life of four sisters, their drama club ,their small fights and how they support each other in difficult times. The story of how these girls grow into adulthood. The story is simple but eloquent and that is the beauty of Little women.
