Desserts! Desserts! Desserts! What a word to hear for the hungry souls. Personally, dessert is my most favourite part of a meal. I believe there's no best way to finish a meal without a delicious dessert.
Here's my take on the best European desserts.
A Tres Leches Cake(Spanish-pastel de tres leches) is a three milk cake. A sponge cake is first baked, and it is then soaked in three different kindsof mik : evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and heavy cream and is topped with whipped cream. The three milks when rightly combined, create the perfect density, sweetness and richness. The texture is so soft, that it melts in your mouth.
Following Tres Leches, is another European dessert of French origin. Also known as trinity cake, it blends a bit of crispy caramel in every bite. It consists of a rich custard base, topped with hard caramelized sugar. It is mostly made of pure cream and is one of the richest custard desserts in terms of taste.
Only a cut is what you need to release the slow flood of melting chocolate from the interior. The name means "melting chocolate cake" in French. This rich, dense and dark dessert can be served in two ways. Serve it hot, it will be a hot pool of chocolate batter and serve it cold, it's a brownie! However, when the balance if perfect, you'll get yourself indulged in a tender bite of chocolatee cake with a delicious pleasure of melting chocolate. It's an absolute treat for chocolate lovers.
An airy confection made with a handful of ingredients, this also is a French delicacy. This dessert, is a delicious paradox. The richer it is, the lighter it seems. Originally, the word mousse means foam in French. They are made from whipped cream and whipped egg whites. The mousse can be served in both ways, either sweet or savory.
If you think that only the French homeland is a home to delicious desserts, then you're wrong. The final dessert in my list in the Linzer Torte. A torte, originally is a a rich, multi layered cake that is filled with whipped creams, jams and fruits. The dessert is named after the city of Linz in Austria.Historically, Linzer torte is the oldest cake in the world.
It consists of dough enriched with hazelnuts, walnuts, and ground nuts, lemon zest and cinnamon. It's a jam filling treat , somewhere in the middle between a cake and a tart.
Now that you know, what are worth craving, don't let your pockets deny your cravings!
Happy eating people!
