What Are The Career Options After 12th?

A must ask question for all adults and a compulsory interrogation to ponder on for all higher secondary children!

Every person you meet in your higher secondary years is going to fire you with this question 'What are you planning to do next?' The only options our dear uncles and aunties provide us to answer this question are:

1. Engineering 2. Medical 3. 'Don't really matter' courses .

Now if you are interested in the first two options Lucky you! You have appeased them so well! You will be rewarded with 'how important it is to make it to AIIMS and IIT's to earn a handsome salary and lead a respectable life' lecture. But god forbid if you dare to choose apart from those two you will be cautioned with a dead serious advice of not to be silly and smartly choose amongst the famous two because they are lords of the education system.

Dear students, do you really think this huge world is limited to just two options? Does it even sound correct? If you are genuinely interested in medical and engineering definitely go for it. They are noble professions and have contributed significantly to the society. AIIMS and IIT are not the only two colleges that will let you showcase your talent. A true practitioner will emerge and prove himself useful no matter where he is placed.

Refering to the other lot who is considering beyond these two :

Are you an aspiring scientist and have chosen BSc? or Are you the one who wants to rock the world of dance?

Does music breathe life in you? or Is it your dream to emerge as the successful bussiness tycoon of the country?

Yes? Then do not let this society feed you with their nonsense and dare to do what you love because

You are not silly! You haven't chosen these fields because you couldn't make it to medical and engineering, you chose this because this is your passion and you can muster enough courage to face whatever comes your way. Your profession matters just as much as all others. You matter and your profession does count!

Before ranting the stories of how these two professions are superior please do give a thought about

You love TV right? Then why do you repel to the idea when someone says they want to choose acting next?

If journalists didn't exist you wouldn't have received all the news you love to discuss!

And now please consider what if people never chose pure sciences (the infamous BSc MSc) and no one went into research fields and no scientists were born? Would you have all these equipments in hand to speed up your daily life?

There are so many professions out there without which our lives would have been mundane. Then why flinch when the concept of taking them up as profession is suggested?

Indian government has taken appreciable efforts in the field of education . Prestigious institutes like IISER's , IIST , IIM , IISc , NISER ,and many more have been established nation wide to provide top notch education to the future minds. These institutes will soon gain the fame they deserve and maybe then society will give a thought about breaking the shackles of discrimination and accept all professions with open arms.
