With cricket world cup heading our way, it's an absolute fest for cricket lovers! After a fantastic season of Indian Premier League (IPL) the time has come to get washed away in the wave of the legendary cricket world cup!

India has managed to take the mantle of world champions twice under the captaincy of Kapil Dev and Mahendra Singh Dhoni! I wasn't fortunate enough to witness the 1983 world cup win but I was glued to the TV set on the night of April 2,2011 to witness the MSD's masterclass

However, would that be fair enough to judge the captaincy skills based on WC wins?! Definitely not if you ask me, because there's been better captains and leaders who might have not got the perfectly balanced team! Or the not enough opportunities! Taking these into consideration, I believe Dada aka Sourav Ganguly was the best captain India has ever had. Why? Allow me to elaborate!

It was 1999, Indian cricket team was absolutely in chaos due to the match fixing scandal! Big names were heard, including the captain Mohammed Azharuddin himself! Indian cricket was in pieces of scattered puzzle! With no one to take the mantle of captain and lead the team from the front whole uniting the young guns. That's when a young guy was appointed to start off from the fresh page, to build a team completely from the scratch, Dada, a dynamic leader has rose.

He blended and glued the team of youngsters! Groomed them, and made them go big on bigger events. He was no lesser either,he had bashed 90 odd runs on his debut! He was aggressive, passionate, he knew how to give it back to the opponents. He knew to give opponents a taste of their own medicine (Lord's Tee off!) He groomed and nurtured in the talents as we now know them as legends such asSehwag, Dravidi, Zaheer Khan,Gambhir, Nehra, Kumble and much more!

He tried his best to win it for us in 2003 world cup campaign, unfortunately fell short.
However, he knew how to lead a pack of wolves into a pride of lion. He knew how to turn the best of the worst scenario! It was never easy to lead the team and start off freshly whole piling runs on the board too. Captain, icon, leader, legend and Dada indeed.
