TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

Education in India is provided by mostly public and private schools . Under various articles of the Indian Constitution, free and compulsory education is provided as a fundamental right to children between the ages of 6 and 14. Kerala state has the highest literacy rate.

Recently I have gone through the syllabus of 10th class and it was quite amazing with most of the experimentation work and assignments but the question is how far they are conducting and practicing.

Its a learning by doing concept, but is it really happening ?

The answer is no. Most of the schools instead of performing the experiments they just tell the theory and students lack the practical knowledge.

Reasons :

Lack of infrastructure
Lack of knowledge
The most important thing is money for investment

How to overcome this and make students acquainted with the practical knowledge ?

Schools can use the VR technology a virtual reality world where they can perform experiments in a virtual world and they get hands on experiments. But this is a new technology and involves a good investment but compared to present old school techniques this VR technology is time saving and safe. Although the initial cost is high but running cost and maintainance is less.

To conclude this topic, In India this technology is revolutionary but it will take time to emerge in all states. If government starts some initiation programms like good budgeting for schools and educational institutions like what is happening in Delhi there will be a great scope for this technology.
