No matter what one's mood is when it is about listening to the music of one's choice, very few would deny. It has rightly been termed as the 'literature of heart' and 'the universal language of mankind.' One would fall short of words to describe the benefits music provides to the human body and soul.

Music possesses a different level of energy within the human body. As per the researchers when one listens to the music one likes his brain releases dopamine which is a "feel-good" neurotransmitter. Not only this, but various researchers have also conducted certain tests on people associated with music, the consequences of which have proved the positive biological repercussions of listening to one's choice of music. It has the following benefits:

1. Music helps people undergoing depression:

Music has even sometimes been recommended by doctors to heal people undergoing the problem of depression. Depression is a stage where a person has feelings of severe despondency and dejection. More than 350 Million people suffer from depression around the world. Music has the ability to help the issue of emotional sickness which is common among youth. Motivational music also contributes a lot in this, as it has the ability to fulfill the self-actualization needs of the people.

2. Music alleviates stress:

In the words of 'Billy Joel', "I think music in itself is healing. It is an explosive expression of humanity. It is something we all are touched by, no matter what culture we are from."

The above lines reflect the significance of music in healing chronic stress, as it decreases the level of Cortisol, the stress hormone in the human body. It helps lift the spirits of people.

3. Cures the problem of Insomnia:

Music serves as a boon on a stressful day. It has the power to heal the problem of Insomnia which is a state of lack of drowsiness. As per a study, over 30% of Americans suffer from Insomnia.

4. It Increases the level of concentration among students:

It is also found that studies accompanied by light music increase the level of concentration among students. Classical music has been recommended in this aspect.

5. Other health benefits:

It has also been notified that if one spends merely 15 minutes of his day singing and listening to his favorite music, his health is better as compared to those who do not follow this routine. It enhances the capability of inculcation and helps improve the academic performance of children.

Conclusion:

To sum up, Music is a disguised medicine at times of depression, anxiety, Insomnia, and various other such issues. It can serve as a companion to the lonesome and sometimes a guide to people too.
