3.Martin Luther king, Jr.

He was the most important figure and spokesperson of the American Civil Rights Movement from 1955 to 1968. His speech starting “I have a dream…” still sends shivers down the spines. His vision of human equality, and fight against racism of complexion steered a long battle to abolition of classification based on skin colour or birth.

4.Nelson Mandela

Mandela is undoubtedly the most popular and most loved African leader, whose life was spent in struggling against apartheid in Africa. He suffered imprisonment for 27years from 1968 to 1990. In 1994, he became the first President of South Africa.

As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest.

5.Mikhail Gorbachev

Gorbachev was the President of the Soviet Union from 1990-1991, while being the Union chief from 1988 itself through different offices. It was during his tenure that former USSR was dissolved. His concepts of Glasnost (openness) and Perestroika (restructuring) also made a huge impact in world politics.

6.Mao Zedong

Mao was the founding father of PRC-People’s Republic of China. He was a communist leader and brought about the political revolution in China. In a larger aspect, he worked as a key figure is bringing together the people with national revolution.

In time of difficulties, we must not lose sight of our achievements.

7.Adolf Hitler

Not much is required to be said about this German dictator, who is often quoted as the main reason behind the World War II. He is one of the very few who has made such a remarkable impact on the world.

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think.
