India loves bikes-

and that love does not go unreciprocated with some worthy rides. With evolution and mechanical developments, the automobile industry has been totally restructured. However, there are some all time beloveds who are never to be forgotten.

1.Yamaha Rajdoot

Production‎: ‎1983 - 1989

Class‎: ‎Standard

Between 1983 and 1986, a two stroke muscular machine with initials 'RD'(Race Developed) came into market. Manufactured by the Escorts Group, it was promoted in India as Rajdoot in collaboration with Yamaha Japan. Due to competitors like Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and Yezdi Roadking 250cc,Rajdoot failed to become a commercial vehicle. High fuel consumption and expensive spare partsalso played an active role behind its flop career. Although the last model was reportedly sold in 1991, Rajdoot continued as a flagship model.

2.Bajaj Chetak

Production: 1972-2006

Class: Scooter

Bajaj Chetak was a landmark in the scooter industry. It became immensely popular in the 80's with its craze even passing over the youth. The Chetak and Piaggio (LML Vespa) became style stat) became style statements. Even at one time, even in those unadvanced days, Bajaj had to release a public plea to wait till they could meet up the demands.

3.Yamaha Rx 100

Production: 1985-1996

Class: Classic

A milestone produced by Yamaha during the years between 1976 to 2006. This vehicle is known for its powerful engine and attractive grunt and thus easily attracted more bike freaks than was expected of it. The main reasons behind its immense popularity was its performance, durability and iconic engine noise. To keep pace with the strong competition, few upgradations like air filters, quick throttle, disc brakes, fifth gear, race pistons, racing CDI systems were incorporated in the model. Thus, with good reasons, this motorcycle is termed as the "Tank BIKE" because of being practically indestructible!.

4.Yezdi Roadking

Production: 1978-1996

Class: Standard

Producedby Ideal Jawa Ltd. at Mysore, this bike came up with a 250cc engine with twin exhausts and a semi-automatic clutch. This model became famous for winning many road rallies and races in India and undoubtedly became a sensation among youngsters.

5.Royal Enfield Mini Bullet 200cc

Production: 1973

Class: Standard

Mini Bullet represents the history of the company 'Royal Enfield' and most importantly the survival and development of the Indian counterpart of Enfield- the Royal Enfield. Mini Bullets were first manufactured in 1973 with the name Enfield 200 but later the name was changed as a marketing strategy. At the time of production, the Mini Bullet was powered by a 197cc, 2-stroke, single-cylinder air-cooled engine , the sound was heavenly.
