Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein-H. Jackson Brown

Are you a busy person? Is there something that you want to start like going to the gym, starting a blog, finding an internship or learning a new skill but are not able to do it because you are running out of time? Lately, I have observed young people like me saying, "I don't have time, I am very busy." Conversely, successful businessmen, medical professionals, CEOs handle their personal and professional life smoothly. So what are the factors that make people with less work feel busier than those who are working twice than the former ones? Why is that some people are able to eat on time, exercise daily, go on holidays with their families, complete their work on time and are yet left with some spare time to enjoy themselves? The key difference between these two types is the ability to manage one's time well.

  • Time Management

The key is in not spending time, but in investing it- Stephen R. Covey

Smart people appropriately invest their time in different areas of their life. They know what work requires no more than a minute and where to focus their attention for hours. If you start thinking of time as money, you will understand that merely spending it is of no substance. Only once you start investing it, you will realize its true power. We tend to regret spending even a small amount of money on worthless things. Similarly, it is necessary to also regret when you spend time on things that are worthless.

Don't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. One man gets only a week's value out of a year while another man gets a full year's value out of a week- Charles Richards

You will get better results in a week if you exercise daily for 1 hr than exercising for 10 minutes in a whole year. It is very important to invest our time carefully to get the desired result. You may be investing time in things that are necessary but you may not be optimizing it correctly. The ability to accurately calculate the amount of time to be invested comes with experimentation and experience.

To do two things at once is to do neither- Publius Syrus

Managing time doesn't mean you start multitasking and immediately exhaust your mind. If you have to complete two assignments in one day, do not set your hands on both of them simultaneously. The result would either end in your mental exhaustion and you will throw the assignment away or you will end up leaving both of them incomplete in a mid way. It is better losing marks for any one subject than losing both of them.

I am definitely going to take a course on time management...just as soon as I can work it into my schedule- Louis E. Boone

After knowing that your problem is poor time management, the most obvious solution to solve it would be to try getting good at time management. But if you find yourself "too busy" to learn how to manage your time, then you have successfully wasted 3-4 minutes reading this article. You need to start acting on solutions. Mere knowledge of them would do no good in your life.
