PROS AND CONS OF INTERNET CENSORSHIP
The ability to restrict some of the websites or web content from being viewed by the public is known as Internet Censorship. Not all the websites are restricted but there are some specific websites which are restricted from being viewed. This may occur in the form of a regulation , edit or law which is issued or passed by the government. It could also come privately as an object to the content which a certain amount of individuals wish to see.
The content which spreads trauma, tension or chaos or is extremely obscene, violent and dangerous can be blocked instantly by the viewer. This is the advantage of Internet Censorship which is allowed. This prevents young minds from viewing content that could be harmful or scary to them and that also effects their growing brains. For example a scene of a murder or decapitation videos can prove to be harmful but still have made their way through the sites like Twitter and Facebook.
The disadvantage of Internet Censorship is extremely obvious. It is simply a restriction on a person's viewing ability of the content they want to see. Some pros and cons of Internet Censorship are as follows
PROS OF INTERNET CENSORSHIP
• PEOPLE HAVE A CHANCE TO SET THEIR COMMAN SENSE LIMITS
Some things in this world exist that are not healthy for the society. Real murders in progress can be accessed with the help of a simple Google search . Restriction on such type of content is a mustas it sets a common- sense limit on the content that can be viewed by public.
• IT PROVIDES LIMITATIONS TO VIEW THE CONTENT WHICH IS HARMFUL
There exists some dark areas on the web platform which provides easy access to human and sex trafficking, illicit drugs and child pornography . The limitation of content of these types not only limits these content makers but it also restricts them from reaching the victims.
CONS OF INTERNET CENSORSHIP
• EVEN WATCHERS NEED TO BE WATCHED
Internet Censorship is directly surprised and ethically maintained by someone somewhere who is deciding or controlling as to what is acceptable and what is acceptable and what needs to be seen by the public and what should not come in front of the eyes of the public. That particular individual can influence the society in whatever way he wishes without caring about its consequences.
• INDIVIDUALS ARE RESTRICTED TO ACCESS INFORMATION
An Internet which is free from any sort of restriction allows people to post whatever information they wish to. Such a vast platform like the internet allows people to express their thoughts and feelings freely. They can share their views and opinions on a particular topic with the whole world. Laws regarding posting or sharing of illegal content already exists so imposing additional restrictions would create an additional layer of bureaucracy.
