#VoteIndia
General elections are near and most of you who turned 18 must be pumped up about voting, showing the-finger on your Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat to show that you did something of value. Indians struggled to win our freedom and we have the right to vote because of them. Exercising our right to vote upholds what our freedom fighters envisioned for India. We can honor and respect our freedom fighters and the struggle of our past generations by voting for a better India.

Ah the thrill of living in democracy, most of us know about BJP and CONGRESS but when the elections are over and then the NDA will form its government, half of you will be dumbfounded, like who is NDA? ( and if you know, then you know), many rallies and loads of money will be spent for advertising, many promises will be made, many slogans will be heard, people will be mislead by the media but you need to think before you vote because that's how the last guy got elected. A skewed judgement will lead to our country's demise. Be careful.

I would like to point out, that no matter how much the media says that “Your vote is valuable”, “Go out there and make the change”, “Your vote can change the direction of the country”, in my opinion that’s some major BS. Bear with me for a moment, let me tell you why. First of, if you think that your single vote can change everything then you are wrong, your vote is valuable if and only if you are in abundance. And second of all, you all know that there is no chance of any other party winning the elections except for Modi Ji. I remember something about Socrates and what he said about democracy he said, that if you have a 5 min conversation with the normal people then you’ll understand that how crazy the idea of democracy is. Yes, majority can be wrong and in a country like India it is always wrong, because the educated people rarely votes and the ones who do, they make a wrong choice. There is a reason why our parliament is flooded with leaders who doesn’t listen to anyone else and create an image on national TV which is nothing far from laughable.

Hence I don’t think that everyone should be allowed to vote and not everyone should be allowed to contest elections. Some education should become the basic requirement to vote.

But as we are stuck with this system we need to make the best use of it, pick someone good for you locality who has actually done something in the past, and don't expect your leaders to be clear saints, because they will not be as power corrupts the most, and when you have power people change the most.

Peace
