" Agricultural loans waived, Half electricity bill" -

A promise made to a state with 80% population engaged in agricultural activity and a population paying electricity bill @ 6.8 rs per unit. This manifesto was spread like fire and made sure people know what's gonna come with them. Oppositions were ruling party for past 15 years and the 'national wave' of their supreme leader almost promised them a sweeping victory. The promise was not just national, even on the scenario current government had been proudly conducting displays of their achievements in past one and half decade. Increase in GDP, growth rate 10%, various policies and plans executed for common people. It was a steep climb, but waving off loans of 80% of population isn't just steep. Additional bonus: 1000rs on electricity every month for an average household.

The result of 2018 Chattisgarh was an eye opener for many. Congress had won 68 out of 90 seats, People had chosen and the leader delivered what they had promised. Within 10 days of coming in power all the agricultural loans were waved off which was like a monsoon shower in desert for dissatisfied agricultural population. The benifits were extended for everyone irrespective of financial condition of a farmer. Even well off farmers who had acres of land and few lakh of loan on it, had their loans waved off. From the next month every one started saving on electricity as well. Everything that was promised is now realised to existence. It cost the state a total of 4.5 thousand crores that was to be deducted from somewhere. Within 3 months, The skywalk project which cost 70 cr. that was to be built in capital of state to facilitate walking, was cancelled. Similarly various projects worth the exact 4.5 thousand cr. was cancelled all around the state. An unevitable disaster for the devolopment of the state.

This raises a question, what do we really need ?

Are we actually ready for economic boom, when general population is unhappy with their current living condtions?

Or This public distribution of wealth is just a way to promote umemplyment and a severe hinderance to devlopment?

What i infered was; while the current government should have been more carefull with the actual ground level conditions of their people, Public distribution of wealth is not a solution for any problem. A common man doesn't pay taxes so that money can be returned equally some day. We need Government for policies, not for fair distribution, we have Law for that. It is a lesson to be learnt for everyone.
