The most fiercest cricketing rivalry of all times is now at stake because of the political hypocrisy from the governments of both sides.

Cricket is considered a religion in both the countries and India vs Pakistan matches is festival to celebrate and a sight to behold in both the nation. It brings immense joy to watch these frenemies fighting on the green fields just to prove who's better. So why should be deprive those viewers arcoss the world of such joy, pleasure and passion.

Recent events have led to more intensification of the debate whether India should play Pakistan. I just want to ask these people who are in support of no India-Pakistan clashes, why Cricket. Why not completely boycott Pakistan? We play all other sports with Pakistan in different tournament but cricket has always been on the receiving end. These situations have become so grave that politicians in India are even asking to keep Pakistan out of the World Cup.

First, I don’t see how India can convince other cricketing nations that Pakistan should be boycotted in a multilateral event. Pakistan have legitimate right to play at the World Cup. So, we really don’t have any grounds to get Pakistan banned here.

Cricket is seemingly used as a diversionary tactic. ‘Nationalists’ on both sides, especially India, are quick to jump on to the bandwagon. “No peace, no cricket” is their ready response.

If we really want to boycott Pakistan then why should sports and cricket in particular be made the scapegoat. We should try to be more diplomatic and make them more isolated at the international arena in terms of trade, cultural and other types of relations. Pakistan continues to sponsor terrorism for a long time but no results have been there by not playing bilateral series with them.

Sports should never be politicised. It's meant to promote a sense of friendship, closeness between nations. When will India play Pakistan in a bilateral series is that one puzzling question with no answer. As a fan of cricket — Indian cricket no less — I would like to see the countries engage in cricket matches regularly.

Playing Pakistan in Pakistan still remains a very risky option and there's no point in putting the players life in danger but I don't see any security concerns hosting Pakistan in India or even playing at a neutral venue like UAE.

The sport is being made a scapegoat, a convenient excuse to depict that all is not well between India and Pakistan.

Let's just hope that the passion and energy of India- Pakistan clashes never dies and the marriage of sports and politics ends up having a divorce.
