Reality... A plague
We all avoid the plague. Who wants to fall sick after all... But isn't that reality too? Don't we all avoid reality so that we could enjoy our lives in the clouds and daydream about a better life?
Reality is like a mirror without a beauty filter. It will show you the ugliness as well as the beauty of life hand in hand. No matter how clean you try to keep the mirror, it'll always reflect the subject. It shows you your own external appearance, which in today's world people try to modify with the use of artificial products like make-up. The make-up here represents the make-believe blanket that we all depict to the society, but what lies underneath is a secret that we all hold.
People, in general always try to prefer books with happy ever after or an extravagant conclusion. May it be an adventurous genre or a contemporary romance book, in the end, we either want our soldier to stand bravely atop the hill or the couple whom we shipped since the beginning of the novel to fall in love. The authors never reveal the ending of these characters lives. What if the soldier later finds out that he has an untreated internal injury which leads him to suffer till his last breath, or maybe the couple who was happily in love during their juvenile phase now is crippling in their old age and unable to make ends meet... It might not happen that way, but there's always a possibility. A possibility that life may take a wrong turn and drop us at an unknown road, where we wouldn't have a Google Maps application to guide us.
Reality is a mixture of hope and hopelessness. There are certain situations in our lives where we are aware that it wouldn't make any sense to hold hope for a positive outcome, but we still have an inkling in our heart... A what if? An optimistic outlook that maybe that little inkling will save me. But it is that inkling of hope which destroys you if it doesn't work out.
Readers, I'm not trying to dissuade you from being an optimist nor am I discouraging you to always look forward towards a happy ending, what I'm trying to tell you is accept reality first, and then build your happy ending based on it.
A person who accepts his or her own reality is the strongest and an undefeatable champion in the world, and nothing can stop that person from conquering what he aims.
Be that person dear Reader. You can, you will. All you need is to give a glance at reality and take that crucial step that will propel you forward like the Titanic, but it will never let you crash into an iceberg.
Be strong, Be real.
Until the next time mates,
Xyris Vendetta.
