Sports can be playing any game, be it football, basketball, cricket etc. It is broadly thought by many people that playing sports is not useful for children and that sports is just another exercise, which absolutely baffles me. But why?
With playing sports, fitness is not the only benefit. There are countless benefits which we as a community either ignore or fail to understand.
When a person plays sports, it's a challenge as he's a beginner, he has to start from the very bottom, it requires a lot of hardwork and dedication every single day. After putting in the work , he starts seeing results and it acts as fuel and motivates him to work even harder and get better in that sport. With the hardwork and the results , he starts developing will power with the help of which he sets goals and achieve them on a regular basis.
After working on a sport and getting better , he starts entering competitions. In these competitions, just having skill doesn't cut it, he has to be extremely disciplined in every aspect, whether it be to his opponents or to the game. With these competitions, there are rivalries with other teams and opponents and the will to win is at an all time high, the person can go to any limit to get the victory. The hunger to win and beat your fiercest rivals develops competitiveness, something which is very important to succeed in any phase of life.
After a hard game against his fiercest rivals, he either wins or losses, the result is no doubt very important but the important and beautiful thing in sports is the respect shown afterwards by two opponents who gave it their all and have nothing but respect for each other's efforts. No matter how intensified they were during the game, once it was over , there was nothing but love and the rivalry and intensity was left on the pitch for another time.
What we see above is a person who from sports learned about hardwork and its importance in obtaining successful results, the will power he developed by settings objectives and completing them before deadlines. During games, he understood the essence of discipline, he learned to be competitive to win games. And the last but not least, he learned that no matter what, there is always love and respect for not only your own teammates and your opponents too.
All of the characteristics above help an individual develop a mindset which is absolutely necessary and a must for success in any field. So, the next time you stop your child or any of your family member from playing sports, know that what you're depriving him is not an hour of fun with friends but a mindset and a lifestyle which is absolutely necessary for him to be successful in this world.
