My Body As A Gift

It shall be my endeavour to reveal thee in my actions,
to reveal thee in my actions,
Knowing it is thy power gives me strength to act.
1. Life of my life, I shall ever try to keep my body pure,
Knowing that thy living touch is upon all my limbs.
2. I shall ever try to drive all evils away from my heart,
and keep my love in flower, knowing that thou hast
thy seat in the inmost shrine of my heart.

For decades, sexual liberationists claimed that people needed to be liberated from repressive sexual ethics. They taught that everyone should be free to experience their own sexuality in any manner whatsoever with anyone who is willing. Such thinking and experimentation has brought multitudes of men and women permanent diseases such as sterility, genital herpes, genital wart virus linked with cervical and penile cancer and other such related diseases. Young boys and girls have suffered guilt, shame and scorn from families and society. Unable to live this trauma they have put an end to their lives. Instead of enjoying sexual bliss, human sexuality for such persons is now associated with personal misery, disease and health. Our bodies are not toys to be played with. They are sacred and as such have to be handled with delicacy, respect and care.

The result of indiscrimination and hasty pleasures is the many diseases that they generate. The most dreaded among them is : AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). The rapid spread of the disease in India has been facilitated by a collection of unfortunate circumstances - high rate of sexually transmitted diseases, unsafe blood collection and distribution system. AIDS is caused by a virus, which kills T4 lymphocytes in the immune system responsible for producing antibodies against invading organisms. In most cases it occurs in homosexuals and in hemophiliacs.

Causes of Sexual Deviations

• Unhealthy homes where parents are not caring and watchful.
• Freedom without proper guidance or responsibility.
• Loneliness, disappointments, excessive sorrow.
• Influence of T. V. , Internet, Cell Phone, etc.
• Irrational threats and fears about sex.

Means to overcome

• A thorough knowledge and acceptance of one's sexuality.
• Trusting the advice and experience of elders.
• Seeking guidance when in doubt.
• Respectful attitude towards the other in all relationship.

A very tender, loving relationship can exist between a man and a woman outside marriage, without sexual relations playing any role. In fact, it is possible to love endearingly a member of the opposite sex without having or desiring sexual relations. It is, of course, also possible to love with a sexual desire but without its fulfilment.

Adult, male - female relations imply a certain amount of maturity, and one of the marks of maturity is an ability to govern oneself; another is the ability to postpone immediate satisfaction for long - term aims.

My body is a gift to be valued and respected.
